RealGoodWords

Terms

These terms apply to anyone using RealGoodWords. Plain English now, full legal policy at public launch.

The plans

  • Free plan. Free, forever. Unlimited email review requests plus 25 SMS per month per account. No credit card required.
  • Pro plan. $29/mo, billed monthly. Includes your first 10 auto-replies free. Cancel any time before your 11th reply to avoid being charged.
  • Switch plans any time. Downgrade applies at the end of your current billing period.

Using the service

  • You must own or be authorised to manage the Google Business Profile you claim. Verification confirms this before any SMS sends on your behalf.
  • Customers you send review requests to must have given you their phone number or email address in the normal course of business. Never purchased lists.
  • On the Free plan, the SMS template is fixed. Pro users can customise the SMS body within applicable carrier and platform rules.
  • On the Pro plan, you authorise RealGoodWords to read your Google reviews and post replies on your behalf via your Google Business Profile authorisation. Reviews of 3 stars or below are held for your approval before any reply posts.

What you keep ownership of

  • Your business profile and review content.
  • The text of every reply RealGoodWords drafts on your behalf. Editable, exportable, deletable at any time.
  • Your customer contact list.

Acceptable use

  • No incentivised reviews. Asking customers for honest feedback is fine; offering rewards in exchange for positive reviews violates Google's policies and is not permitted.
  • No purchasing of customer contact lists. Only use contacts you legitimately obtained.
  • No impersonating businesses you don't manage.
  • Rate limits and abuse detection apply on every account. Repeated violations result in account suspension.

What we refuse to do

RealGoodWords is built around Google’s published policy for reviews. The following tactics violate Google policy, and we contractually refuse to use them. This is part of our service commitment.

  • Review gating (asking for a star rating first, only routing 4–5 star reviews to Google). Common in agencies and several mid-market tools. Refused: violates Google’s prohibited content policy as biased solicitation.
  • Incentivised reviews (discounts or free items in exchange for a review). Common in restaurant and hospitality SaaS. Refused: explicitly named in Google’s prohibited and restricted content policy.
  • Keyword coaching (templates that nudge reviewers to mention specific services). Common in mid-market SEO tools. Refused: Google’s policy requires reviews to reflect a genuine experience.
  • Promotional auto-replies (replies that promote offers, link to bookings, push deals). Common in some auto-reply tools. Refused: Google says do not use replies to offer deals or promotions.
  • Identical templated replies (the same thank-you to every reviewer). Common in cheap auto-reply tools. Refused: Google explicitly calls out the need to make every reply count.

Cancellation

  • Cancel any time from /app/settings → Billing.
  • Pro stays active until the end of your current billing period after cancellation.
  • End at any time before your 11th auto-reply. No charge applies.
  • Account deletion removes all data within 30 days, except billing records retained 12 months.
